Little Cuyahoga Exploration Camp
June 24-28, 2024
Our Little Cuyahoga Summer Camps are five-day outdoor camps that explore nature within the Cascade Valley neighborhood and the Cuyahoga River Watershed. Activities include scavenger hunts, storytimes, and hikes along the Little Cuyahoga River, the Cuyahoga River, and in Cuyahoga Valley National Park—all while learning about urban and natural ecosystems.
Daily camp activities will start and end at Elizabeth Park. Food will be provided, along with transportation to and from camp visits to Summit Metro Parks and Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
The Little Cuyahoga Exploration Camp
Join us for a week of scavenger hunts, games, art, and hikes in the neighborhood, on the Towpath, in Summit Metro Parks, and in Cuyahoga Valley National Park. All activities will center around learning about urban and natural ecosystems.

Ages
Children between the ages of 6 and 12 can register.
Program Activities
Campers will meet each morning at the Hilltop Shelter in the Cascade Valley Metro Park-Oxbow Area in Akron. On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, we will take a field trip to Cuyahoga Valley National Park for exploration of the natural world and a picnic lunch. On Thursday, we will explore Summit Metroparks sites for more activities. On Friday, we will conclude with activities around Cascade Locks Park and Elizabeth Park. During the bus trips, all school rules for bus transportation apply.

The camp will meet from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Cascade Valley Metro Park-Oxbow Area. Program is rain or shine, but may be canceled in the event of thunder, lighting, or other unsafe weather conditions.
Cost
We are committed to making this camp affordable for residents of Cascade Valley or North Hill Neighborhoods. The cost is $165 for the week, and scholarships are available at registration. Register by May 8th to receive $10 off per camper. Camp enrollment is limited to 32 students. Capacity is limited for safety concerns. Waivers must be completed for ALL participants.
